La Clinica Student Health and Wellness Center at Southern Oregon University provides medical and mental health care. It specializes in serving college students and their needs.
La Clinica has provided exceptional, affordable care in the Rogue Valley since 1989. The nonprofit took on operation of the health and wellness center on SOU’s Ashland campus in the fall of 2024.

When is the Student Health and Wellness Center open? Find our hours and other key details here. Generally we are open during fall, winter, and spring terms, with reduced hours during summer session. Services aren’t available during school breaks.

Why should I choose the Student Health and Wellness Center for my care? This outpatient primary care clinic specializes in college health, addressing both medical and mental health needs. Our team is tuned into the campus community. We understand the stress, schedules, demands, opportunities, and challenges students face. We have the experience and resources to help.
Who is the care team? We have a dedicated staff of licensed and certified medical and mental health providers. Our team includes family nurse practitioners, behavioral health, registered nurses, medical assistants, and welcoming front desk employees.
How do I make sure the care team has my previous medical records? Students who got care at the Student Health and Wellness Center before September 2024 need to fill out this release form to share their medical records with La Clinica or any other provider.
How much does it cost to visit the Student Health and Wellness Center? Students typically pay no more than $15 for a visit with a medical provider or a mental health counselor. There may be separate costs for lab tests or prescriptions. No payment is due at a visit.
If you have insurance, we will bill your insurance. La Clinica also offers a sliding fee scale with discounts for people who are uninsured and have low income. After these payments and discounts are applied, we will send a bill.
Do I need to have health insurance to get care here? No, you don’t need to have insurance. No one will be turned away for financial or insurance reasons.
How do I know what I’m being charged for my care? If you don’t have health insurance or aren’t using insurance, La Clinica must give you an estimate of the bill before you get care. This is called a “good faith estimate.” It is required by law.
